Mrs. Kristen Belcher, a 3rd grade teacher at Kaufman Elementary School in Spring, Texas, has great command of many things trucking, and conveys this knowledge to her students regularly. Additionally she hosts visits from me, her driver, as
often as I can get to them as long as she and her students
are not interrupted in their school activities and studies. As I
have often said to her, school comes first.” said Russell
James, driver for Titan Express and class Trucker Buddy.
Russell and Kristen work as a team to teach the
students
about the trucking industry and learn the fundamental
skills needed to succeed. They have regular conversations
about where Russell has been travelling, what kind of products
he hauled, many of the fun things he does while trucking,
safety issues with truckers and their jobs, his favorite things
and places.
Mrs. Belcher goes a long way to teach the students
that truckers are a great and valuable asset to our country's
needs. “While in this program, Mrs. Belcher is very good at
promoting letter writing from the students, and as I give
updates via e-mail and post cards, she prints the e-mails and
pictures out
and reads them to the students so they have real ltime information about my trucking activities.”
Mr. James says “that when he has the opportunity to bring his rig to visits with the students, Mrs. Belcher has complete command and control of the students while they "tour" my rig, always making sure that each and every student has the opportunity to see the rig and it's features, while making sure the students are doing the "tour" safely.”
They both anticipate a Trucker Buddy partnership long into the future. She is a great asset for the trucking industry, as Russell’s message of the value of truckers is distributed through her to the students and their families and beyond.
